In the second of this apparent three-part series on my journey through former Yugoslavia, I will take you into Croatia. Rijeka, the islands of Krk and Novalja, Zadar and Zagreb. Croatia is a beautifully fantastic country trying to get used to the tourist boom as people are finally figuring out that the landmines are gone and the place is gorgeous. Most people already know that about Southern Croatia. And, yes, Dubrovnik, Split and Hvar on the Mediterranean coast are a pretty piece of vacation paradise, but I spent all my time in the north getting to know the Adriatic and the mountainous terrain. Some day I’ll make it south, but in the mean time flip through images of Croatia’s upper half and be convinced to go there.
