Salt Lake City Got Pride

June 3, 2012

The annual pride celebration was held in America’s gayest city last weekend, and, yes I’m talking about Salt Lake City. The three-day fest included a 5k run, music, carnival, marches and was topped off with a nearly two-hour-long parade on Sunday morning. A new feature to the parade included a group of over 300 Mormons dressed in their Sunday best marching in support of the LGBT community. This year marked the first year that a Mormon support group has participated in the parade.

The Kuala Lumpur Photoawards 2012 winners have been announced.

Who was watching the four-day extravaganza celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee non-stop on the BBC? Probably somebody.

The Farm Security Administration’s photography project, headed by Dorothy Lange, Russell Lee, Henry Carier-Bresson, etc. was a pinnacle moment in 20th century photography. Apparently, even though the main archive is in Washington DC, 41,000 prints were sent to New York but were not catalogued until 2005. And anyone with a NYC library card could check out any of the original prints. Now 1000 photos from the project are re-emerging in a digitized collection at the New York Public Library.
